Uganda IBS 6 - No longer enslaved by sin

Romans 6:6 "We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin." In Paul's letter to the Romans he has just got through a section where he speaks about Adam and Christ. Adam the one who brought sin into the world and death to all men. Jesus the one who brought justification to sin, that grace might lead man to eternal life through Him. Now in Chapter 6 we who are dead to sin have become alive to God. For Christ defeated death in the the glory of the Father. Therefore, verse 6:6 death to our old selves. That we should walk in the same newness of life, a life to God. No longer being a slave to sin, but to righteousness by the grace of God. To know this important fact of the bible means that we as Christians are not controlled by sin. Knowing the bible says this I no longer have to confuse Satan's abilities. That Satan has no power over my choice to sin or not to sin.

IBS 10 - Joy in being patient

Colossians 1:11 "Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy." In Paul's letter to the Colossians He is giving thanks and prayer to God for the faith of the Colossians. Prayer for their fulfilment in the knowledge of God's will. Going on to speak of the manner worthy of the Lord. Patience, longsuffering, endurance, with joy! For verse 1:11 this is the manner Paul writes of and it's an important one to understand. Naturally the flesh does not respond with joy during times of suffering. Christians find the ability to behave in such manner because it's a manner of the spirit. With the spiritual wisdom and understanding we find happiness in servanthood for the Lord. Here the lesson is that God strengthens his children to endure longsuffering and we should have joy for the  strength to do His will . In Luke 21:17 Jesus says "You will be hated by all for my name's sake." Applying this to m

IBS 9 - Patience to gain

Luke 21:19 "By your patience posses your souls" another translation is "By your endurance you will gain your lives" In the Gospel according to Luke, Jesus is speaking of the future events that are to come. Destruction, war, and persecution. That persecution will come first to those who are followers of Him. Which will be the time to bear witness. Hated by all for His name's sake. That through patience and endurance you receive your life. Trials will always be; depending on our patience with God, they'll either stumble us or be a stepping stone in our live. We are called to sacrifice and suffer for our Lords name. We gain our life in obey this command. Patience is very important to this calling, without it we loss the battle. Let us ask not for less trails but the patience to endure difficults one. Witness' that smile in the face of trouble! For we are moving toward the goal! In applying this today

IBS 8 - The rooted seeds

Luke 8:11-15  Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. I personally know that I have been the seeds to the rock. Having heard the word, believed the word; but without roots. Many times the seeds of life were tossed to the rock.  I needed good ground to bare fruit. Today I stand with a community that is of good ground. A group of people that h

IBS 7 - Walking carefully

Ephesians 4:4 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools buts as wise, redeeming the time , because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.  When I come to read and understand this verse I see that Paul is telling the Ephesian people to arise and walk in light; and in doing so walk in wisdom. The verse uses the word "circumspectly" meaning "carefully". Carefully walk as children of God, be wise, and remain faithful in the spirit. Continually being filled  with the fruits of the spirit. The fruit of the spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth. "Not as fools but as wise". Then the verse has the word "redeeming". I believe the verse means to regain time or atone for time; paying back the lost time that should have been used for the furtherance of the Kingdom of God.  Furthermore "the days are evil" we should not be stumble if we are focused on the will of the Lord, l

Uganda IBS 5 - Busy for the Kingdom

Luke 9:62 "Jesus said to him, 'no one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the Kingdom of God' " In this area of the Gospel according to Luke,  Jesus is setting toward Jerusalem with His ministry. Walking through villages, men come to Him wanting to follow, but saying they must attend to other things before going with Him. Jesus rebukes them for their excuses and makes it clear that the Kingdom of God is most important. Jesus is very blunt to those who desire to follow, His seriousness warns those of the cost for the Kingdom of God. This message underlines a very important quality of the Christian faith, that is "SACRIFICE". The ability to give everything up to God, through faith and trust, for the furtherance of God's plans. We don't look back therefore nothing can hold us back from our work. This verse is a very strong verse and takes spiritual maturity to understand with depth. For my application today I will only be using the

IBS 6 - Our Sincere boast

Inductive Bible Study (IBS 6) 2 Corinthians 1:12 "For our boasting is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity and godly sincerity, not by earthy wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so towards you." Paul is writing in his second letter to the Corinthians. In this section of scripture Paul is speaking for what the church is to boast for on the day of the Lord Jesus Christ, which boasting in each other's testimonies. As Christians we live freely! What I mean is life can be very confusing and complicated without God. Before surrendering to Jesus, life was never filled with a moment of simplicity. I was filled with the flesh and never sincere with myself. God wants to take all that away and have us rely completely on Him. By that His comfort will always be with us and He'll never leave us or forsake us. In applying this to my day, when I find myself in affliction, I will know not to try, but needing Him and giving al

IBS 4 - The beginning of Wisdom

Inductive Bible Study (IBS.4) WISDOM Psalm 111:10 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever" This scripture comes out of a poem within the book of psalms. This piece of the poem specifically speak of the fear of the Lord. If we do not fear the Lord then we do not have reason to keep his commandments. His commandments are for those who fear the Lord and those who obey Him. Those who obey the commandments are wise. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. In applying this today I will reread Exodus 20, fear God and obey His commandments.

IBS 3 - Heavenly Wisdom

Inductive Bible Study (IBS.3) WISDOM James 3:13-18 Who is wise and understanding among us, He is shown with good conduct, in which works are done with meekness of wisdom. If you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. Wisdom in which comes from the enemy and not from God. That is where every evil thing dwells, creating envy, confusion, self-sot existence. Wisdom that is of God is pure, peaceable, gentle, willing to yield , full of mercy and of good fruits, with hypocrisy. Having an understanding of wisdom should be closely examined by oneself before living and conducting a life through righteousness. Demonic wisdom; wisdom of the world can be very easily sown by oneself. Learning to gain through a sensual desire, giving our self our on title in a world full of evil things. A pure hearted desire of wisdom is through prayer and reading of the Word which can give righteous wisdom that is from God. Asking God to change the desires of our he

IBS 5 - Ask God

Inductive Bible Study (IBS 5) WISDOM James 1:5 "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." This verse and the verses that surround it reminds me of what I've been reading in the first two chapters of the book of Nehemiah. In the way that Nehemiah's patience for God to work in his desire to rebuild his people's city. Then the king gives Nehemiah the permission and support for rebuilding the city wall. Nehemiah prayed and still perpared the plans on for restoring the city. Even though he was not answered by God yet he used wisdom by still preparing for his prayers to come true. When God finally answered his prayers through the king, Nehemiah was ready. For me personally I know that when I lack in asking God for wisdom, seeking it myself and put God aside. Putting rubbish before God. With fear of God, He'll always be my main focus. Therefore, my application today will be to pra

IBS 2 - Set faith loud!

Inductive Bible Study (IBS.2) FAITH Mark 10:46-52 Jesus is leaving Jericho with HIs disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, sat by the road begging. Hearing that it was Jesus, Bartimaeus, began to cry out for mercy on himself. Many warned him to be silent but Bartimaeus only grew louder with his cries. Jesus heard and commanded those to call Bartimaeus. Jesus asked Bartimaeus what it was he wanted and he answered Jesus that he may recieve his sight. Jesus said to him "go your way; your faith has made you well." The importance to this verse is clear, have faith in your Lord.  Many things can prevent us from crying out in faith, causing us to not trust in the healing our Lord can do. Do not be silent! Instead may we be bold, loud in our faith and in the healing Jesus has for us. Today I will raise my faith up loud, above the running thoughts that prevent my healing and weaken my trust; that is where my faith will be, for everyone to witness! Amen!

Inductive Bible study 1 Corinthians 1:26-29 "For consider your calling brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many of you were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and dispised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God." Paul here is writting to the people of Corinth in an appeal to approach the quarreling that arose among the people; Pauls brothers in Christ. An earlier section he wrote " is Christ divided?" The problem was that they were dividing each other by their "favorite leaders" and by who baptized who. They were basically choosing to be separated into groups that believed their one leader was to be wiser than the other leaders. For it is not the wisdom of man but the wisdom of God t

Inductive Bible Study Psalm 119:71 "It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I might learn your statutes." In the longest Psalm ,Teth describes in words of poetry an optimistic additude had toward affliction. Affliction, that which is of pain and distress in our life; hardship which may lead us astray. Though it may be hard to see, there is good that will come out of our afflictions. Affliction plays an important role in Gods master plan to our lives. If we were to never experience affliction than it would be hard for us to rely on God. During are afflictions we fall into God's arms realizing that we need Him to keep us above water, we are caught by our Father, and the lesson He has for us is then revealed. Amen. Having afflictions is an esscentual part of learing. A servant of God will go through affliction, just as our Lord Jesus did taking the cup, and hanging on the cross. The after math of the cross will leave scars. After His ressurection, Jesus proved to His

IBS - Fear and Humility (ESV) Proverbs 15:33 - The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes before honor Solomon writes in this short but meaningful proverb how important the fear of the Lord is to wisdom. The knowledge, the foundation around our spiritual wisdom, is the fear of the Lord. Without that fear of the Lord we have not the spiritual wisdom. Furthermore Solomon writes that as a servant to the Lord, we are servants to each other. As Christians we are called to surrender all in a life of humility and our heavenly Father will honor our faith. For my application today I will heed to reevaluate fear of my Lord to be sure it is healthy in every decision, and be not to search for honor in my eyes but humility toward my friends.

IBS - tranquil hearts (ESV) Proverbs 14:30 A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot. Solomon speaks of a heart that is undisturbed; one that is soft and of stillness. In which brings truth to the unrightousness in ourselves. Meaning that tranquility of the heart brings healing to the deadness of flesh. But envy only brings disadvantage to our life. We only become aware of what others advance and not our own. A unhealthy distraction from God, looking to the left and to the right, not focusing  upwardly. Bringing just the opposite of life upon ourselves, rottenness! Lord I pray that I can apply this proverb today by finding myself patiently waiting on You Lord undisturbed and with out envy; quite without expressing emotion of the soul. Let me find myself in Your spirit. Amen.
