IBS 1 -Let us cross with faith

IBS 1 (FAITH)
Luke 8:22-23
On a certain day Jesus gets into a boat with His disciples, "let us cross the lake" He says. They lauched out and Jesus falls asleep. A windstorm comes down on the lake, filling the boat with water; and putting them in jeopardy.
When Jesus called His disciples to cross the lake they launched without question. As a disciple you obey your Teacher and Master. If a storm should come, a perfect and correct disciple will keep his faith in His Masters judgement. The disicples did not keep faith during thier task of crossing the lake. With Jesus sleeping and a storm brewing, the disciples and their faith fell into a state of jeopardy. Jesus awakes from His sleep and rebukes the storm, but says to His disciples " where is your faith?". Taking the lesson out of this verse should mean applying faith into my life over fleshly and worldly insticts that easily sway me. By apply this verse to my life I listen to the spiritual calling of prayer over the next person God puts in my path. Whether I know this person or not I will not let my old masters sway me from what God has put on my heart and called me to do. Remaining in faith and standing firm in the glory of God.

IBS 11 - Faith brings patience

Revelation 1:9  I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. John, writing Revelation talks about his time in exile on the island of patmos. For eighteen months John's perseverance and patience did not waiver. John, in this section of the Bible, displays a clear example of how we as Christians should act while suffering for Christ. Enduring affliction with perseverance and patience is only done in the spirit! John was strengthened by the spirit of God. Sustained by the spirit, even when in chain's on account of Christ's name sake. God gave John the perevilge to write the last book of the Bible in this time of exile. IBS 10 - Joy in being patient

Colossians 1:11 "Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy." In Paul's letter to the Colossians He is giving thanks and prayer to God for the faith of the Colossians. Prayer for their fulfilment in the knowledge of God's will. Going on to speak of the manner worthy of the Lord. Patience, longsuffering, endurance, with joy! For verse 1:11 this is the manner Paul writes of and it's an important one to understand. Naturally the flesh does not respond with joy during times of suffering. Christians find the ability to behave in such manner because it's a manner of the spirit. With the spiritual wisdom and understanding we find happiness in servanthood for the Lord. Here the lesson is that God strengthens his children to endure longsuffering and we should have joy for the  strength to do His will .
