Uganda IBS 10 - Mind the Spirit

Romans 7:21 "So I find it be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand." Romans 8:5 "For those who live according to the flesh, set their mind on things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit." Paul in his well structure letter to the Romans is acknowledging the powerful techniques of sin. We have known sin through the law, but then become dead by sin, sin then is shown to be sin. Read (Romans 7:13). By reading this we can almost say sin's techniques are pre-destined for man's redemption. Through the law we acknowledge sin to be bad, and we find we are nothing of good since we do what is bad. We being sold under sin (Rom. 7:14) are in the flesh since after the fall of Adam. The law is holy, righteous and good but the law proves man to be sinful in the flesh. Therefore we cannot amount to the law, we desire to do what's right but only do what we hate. We are sinners who a

Uganda IBS 9 - In everything commit to Him

Proverbs 16:1-3 "The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord." "All the ways of man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit." "Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established." Found in the short meaningful sayings of King Solomon, Prv 16:1-3. These verses captured my attention over the last couple days. They specifically gaze over man's plans. We as men are always having plans, idea's and hopes flying endlessly throughout our minds. It is not wrong for us to have plans. I believe its Gods desire for us to be creative in the ministry he gives us. Whatever the ministry is, first we must ask ourselves a few important questions. What is your heart's "spirit" motive in such plans? Is it motivated by self? Pure only in your eyes and not the Lord's. "God weighs the spirit" he knows what's truly in our hearts. If our purpose is for Him, he will know

IBS 11 - Faith brings patience

Revelation 1:9  I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. John, writing Revelation talks about his time in exile on the island of patmos. For eighteen months John's perseverance and patience did not waiver. John, in this section of the Bible, displays a clear example of how we as Christians should act while suffering for Christ. Enduring affliction with perseverance and patience is only done in the spirit! John was strengthened by the spirit of God. Sustained by the spirit, even when in chain's on account of Christ's name sake. God gave John the perevilge to write the last book of the Bible in this time of exile. God has a purpose for everything! We may not understand what He's doing right away. But if we trust and obey having faith He'll reveal those things to us. John, even when the odds were aga

Uganda IBS 8 - God possible

Luke 18:27 But he said, "what is impossible with man is possible with God". In this section of the Gospel according to Luke, a rich ruler comes to ask Jesus how he can have eternal life. Jesus' answer was not one the man wanted to hear. He was a very rich man and Jesus told him to give up all his material wealth for the treasure of heaven and to follow him. Not all of us are rich and wealthy but we still have the same trouble in not wanting to let certain things go. One example that I see very commonly is the trouble of letting friends go. We may even come to the point of thinking it impossible. We become scared and see no other route beyond the circle of friends. That is the point where you understand what faith truly is. You simply trust Him. If not, it will be seen most complicated. God takes care of His children when they follow His instruction. God loves to show possible what is impossible with man. Trusting my Father I apply this message by not calling any friends

Uganda IBS 7 - Not fear but power

2 Timothy 1:7 "For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and self-control." The second letter of Paul to Timothy, Paul is writting orders and instructions for Timothy. In this letter Paul is writing from Rome while in chains. Paul seemed to know that Timothy would soon be without his guidance. Paul actually writes "and the time of my departure has come" in the sixth verse of the fourth chapter. So it's quite clear Paul is preparing Timothy to take the new role has leader in ministry. 2 Timothy 1:7, talks about fear and a spirit God has given to us. When we live in ungodly fear, we miss out on the opportunities that God has for us. Through Christ Jesus we are given a spirit of power, love, and self-control. We must allow this spirit to help us guard what our Father has entrusted in us. The ministry he gives us for the furtherance of the Gospel and kingdom of God. I think this verse Paul wrote is so inspiring to the christian disciple. It tells us that w
